Evaluation Task 1

Professional Videos 9x9

1.'My bum is on your lips'. This is the lyric from Eminem-Slim Shady he shows this lyric literally in the video.

2. I think this is how they would want 50 cent to be represented. He's got expensive jewellery and and a crew following him, showing he's important.

3. This shot uses music genre because the band Papa Roach are a metal band, and the shot shows darkness.

4. This shot from Madcon-Beggin video shows them playing the Xbox 360. This is the intertexual reference in there video.

5. This video lucky man by The Verve has very long shots but the camera is constantly moving making it still visually interesting.

6. Foo Fighers-Pretender right at the beginning shows light =s being turned on in the reflection on the floor, i think this shot not only looks interesting, but shows use of lighting too.

7. The video Edith by The Hot Melts uses mise-en-scene to make it look like there playing in an ordinary apartment. The use of book shelves and mirror give it a convincing look.

8/9. Eight is Jack Johnson-Sitting Waiting Wishing. They could have had the idea from Coldplay-The Scientist as they are both reversed videos. Nine is Nickleback-Rockstar this is a very similar idea to the video Feeder-Just A Day

Evaluation Task 1

Our Video 9x9

1. 'Haunted By Your Eyes'. This is the lyric and the image is the literal representation of that lyric.

2. This is how I think the artist would be represented. Quite mysterious, and casual.

3. I feel this shot shows use of music genre because the mood seems very relaxed. This relates to the music because the music itself is relaxing.

4. We wanted to use the idea of the girl being to big in the house in Alice in wonderland, this is a use of an intertexual reference.

5. This shot uses good use of camera because we used the rule of thirds, and we wanted the church to be in the background. This is my favourite shot in the whole music video.

6. This shot shows good use of lighting as we have the natural light coming from the front, and the natural light coming through the trees in the back.

7. This shot shows mise-en-scene. We have the girl singing against the church (rule of thirds again) with the grave stone next to her, and the church wall filling the rest of the shot.

8/9. These two shots demonstrate the ideas we have had from looking at other music videos. Eight shows the old film effect, we watched some videos with similar music and thought it worked well. Nine shows the ending shot when the camera moves up, quite a few videos I have watched have had a similar ending.

Evaluation Task 2

Evaluation Task 3

This a word cloud I created based on the feedback our group had on Vimeo. What it shows is that people agreed and liked the old style film effect. Because it wasn't professional feedback there wasn't much detail.

Here is the feedback we had from professional Ben Gee.

Ben was very positive about our video, and thought it was very professional. He pointed out that he liked the effects, cuts, and thought the video suited the style of music. I am very pleased with all the feedback received.

Digipak

This is my poster, I used a picture of the performer because I thought it would be more recognisable to people. I used the cut-out filter on Photoshop to give it a more visually interesting look. If I had more time I would made the reviews in neater positions, and possibly added a quote, for example "Brilliant".

This is the inside of my album. I used a picture that spreads out over both sides of the inside. The booklet has the same image that is on the left side.I did this because there would be too many pictures on the inside. I used the font Retro Rock Poster which I download from www.dafont.com. I think this font works really well, and suits the style of music. I wanted to keep the CD simple. Not many CDs have a picture on them so I went for the same thing. I used a pattern shape and rotated them around the CD, and put the text on the middle. I think it looks much like a CD you would get in an album and I am pleased. If I had more time would have made at least a few pages of what the booklet would have looked like.

This the front and back cover,I used the same cut-out effect. I think it makes the front cover image look very interesting. I looked at albums and noticed that the artist name is usually in a larger font than the album name so I used that in my album. I have realised that I forgot to put a bar code so this would be the obvious thing that I would have done if I had more time.

Feedback for my digipak

  • Fits together well, same image twice
  • Consistency is great, but having the same image on the front and CD seems a bit wrong. Love the inside picture of the tree, you might want to make the CD blend with the case that well You need a quote or reviewer name with the 5 stars.

The feedback I got is very useful and is clear to me what needs to be done. I agree with what someone said about having the same image twice being wrong, because I wasn't sure what image to put on the CD. Also that I need a quote or reviewer on my poster, for example NME "Brilliant". I will make the changes my feedback suggests and hope for a good improvement.

What we did 2nd March

We have uploaded all the footage and separated the clips so we know which ones are which. We started to edit today and will continue in next lesson.

Plan For Todays Lesson 2nd March

Angelica is late today, so we cannot upload the footage yet as she has the tape. The problem we are facing because of this is time. We have very little time on this, and to do as much as we can when possible. When she has arrived we will upload the footage, and start editing it.
